Pomfret-Avoli Fry With Vegetables
Pomfret-Avoli Fry with Vegetables is a famous fish dish in Kerala where the whole Pomfret fish is used. Pomfret/avoli is marinated in a mixture of soya sauce, pepper powder, other ingredients and later deep fried.
Ingredientsfor 2 servings
- 2 nos Pomfret washed and drained, Avoli
- 2 tsp Pepper powder
- 7 Cloves Garlic
- Ginger A small piece
- 2 tsp Soya sauce
- 11/2 tbsp Vinegar
- 1 cup Onion — finely sliced
- 1 cup Capsicum — sliced
- 1/4 cup Carrot — sliced
- 1/4 cup Celery — chopped
- 4 nos Green chillies — slit
- Oil, to taste
- Salt, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing pomfret/avoli fry with vegetables, first grind the following ingredients: pepper powder, garlic, ginger, soya sauce, vinegar and required salt to a fine paste.
Step 2
Make slits on both sides and apply the ground paste evenly on both sides. Marinate for 3 hours in a refrigerator.
Step 3
Meanwhile, heat some oil in a pan and fry onions, capsicum, carrot, green chillies and celery to a golden brown color.
Step 4
Add some salt and remove the veggies from pan.
Step 5
In another pan, heat some oil and fry in hot oil the marinated fish until done. Remove the fried fishes from pan.
Step 6
Place the fried pomfret in a serving dish and decorate the sides with fried veggies.
Step 7
Pomfret/avoli fry with vegetables, a Dish, is ready. Serve hot.
Tip
The final handful of curry leaves should go in right at the end, off the heat — they should crackle and crisp in the residual heat.
