Pavakka Varuthathu
This bitter_gourd, a crispy, fried side dish in Kerala menu. It is a crunchy, side dish for rice and sambar. The sourness you expect is replaced by a powerful spice mix. Pavakka is one of the less loved vegetable because of its bitter taste.
Ingredientsfor 2 servings
- 2 nos Bitter gourd — cut into thin pieces, pavakka
- 1/2 tsp Chilly powder
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 3 nos Green chillies — cut into long slices
- Coconut or canola oil — for frying
- Salt, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
Wash bitter gourd pieces and drain the water completely.
Step 2
Add chilly powder, green chillies, turmeric powder and salt and Stir everything together thoroughly with hand.
Step 3
Set aside for some mins.
Step 4
Set a pan over medium heat and pour in the oil or a kadai.
Step 5
Fry the bitter gourd pieces on a low flame, till they turn crispy & lightly browned.
Step 6
Goes well with rice.
