Pavakka Varutharacha Curry
A delicious, spicy, aromatic coconut flavored gravy that goes perfect with hot rice. The roasted coconut flavored gravy is thick and tangy.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 2 nos Bittergourd — cut into small pieces
- 1 nos Onion — sliced
- 3 nos Green chillies split lengthwise
- 1 cup Grated coconut — roasted
- 2 tbsp Coriander powder
- 1 tbsp Chilly powder
- 1 tsp Turmeric powder
- 2 tbsp Tamarind pulp
- 2 tbsp Oil
- 1 tsp Mustard
- Curry leaves, a few
- Salt, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing Pavakka Varutharacha Curry, take a pan and heat roasted grated coconut and add coriander powder, chilly powder and turmeric powder.
Step 2
Roast for a few minutes and grind finely.
Step 3
Warm the oil in a pan and add mustard. Add the onion slices and bittergourd pieces and curry leaves. cook well.
Step 4
Add the coconut paste and tamarind juice. Continue cooking for 5 to 10 minutes.
Step 5
Pavakka Varutharacha Curry is ready.
Tip
The oil separating from the masala is your signal that the base is properly cooked. Do not add the main ingredient before you see those pools of oil on the surface.
