Pavakka Mezhukkupurati
Pavakka Mezhukkupurati or Bitter Gourd Stir Fry is a simple dish, prepared in South Indian Style, served usually with hot rice meals. The tasty stir fry dish goes well with hot rice and ghee, curd rice, rasam rice and sambar rice.
Ingredientsfor 2 servings
- 1 nos Pavakka
- 1 nos Onion Small
- 1/2 tsp Mustard
- 2 nos Green chilly
- 2 tbsp Oil
- Salt, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
Boil the sliced pavakka for 4-5 minutes and drain it.
Step 2
Heat 2 – 3 tbsp oil in a wide non-stick pan or a cheena chatti. let the mustard seeds crackle.
Step 3
Next, add sliced onion, green chilly and curry leaves. Continue cooking for 3 to 4 minutes in medium flame.
Step 4
Finally add cooked pavakka and salt to taste.
Step 5
Let it cook for 5 minutes. Then take it off the heat.
Step 6
The delicious stir fry dish is ready. Serve it along with rice.
Tip
Shred the vegetable as fine as you can — the thinner the cuts, the better the thoran. A sharp knife makes all the difference.
