Parippu Sabudana Vada
A traditional Kerala sweet snack made with care and a generous hand of ghee. The kind of thing grandmothers make for festivals and grandchildren make excuses to visit for.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 1/2 cup Red gram soaked for 2 hrs (Thuvaraparippu)
- 1/2 cup Sabudana Sago/Chowari
- 1/5 cup Kadalamavu Chana Daal
- 4 - Green chillies can reduce or increase depending on your spicy intake
- 1 nos Onion — finely chopped
- Water just enough to make the dough
- Oil — for frying
- Salt, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
Soak the parippu for atleast 2 hrs.
Step 2
Grind the soaked parippu with water.
Step 3
Add chillies and onions.
Step 4
Add sabudana, chana daal and salt.
Step 5
Mix all these ingredients well.
Step 6
Set a pan over medium heat and pour in the oil.
Step 7
When the oil is hot, make small rounds out of the above mixture, and put into the hot oil.
Step 8
Fry it till it tourns brown, and then take it out of the oil and put into a plate.
Step 9
Your vada is now ready to have with tomato chutney.
Tip
Jaggery burns easily. Melt it on low heat and always strain it to remove grit before adding it to the mixture.
