Parippu Moloshyam / Simple Dal Curry
Parippu Moloshyam or Simple Dal Curry is a mildly spiced nutritious side dish served with rice or rotis. Simple Dal Curry is a comfort dish very wholesome and tasty.
Ingredientsfor 2 servings
- 1 cup Tur dal / Thoram Parupu — cleaned
- 1 small Onion — cut into small pieces
- 2 Green chillies — cut into slit
- 6 nos Curry leaves
- Coriander leaves for garnish
- Oil for saute
- 1/2 Teaspoon Jeera seeds
- 1 tsp Turmeric powder
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing Parippu Moloshyam or Simple Dal Curry, first clean the dal and cook it well in the cooker.
Step 2
Place a pan on the stove and allow jeera seeds to crackle. Then add onion, curry leaves and green chillies and give it a nice stir till the onions turn golden. Then add the turmeric powder.
Step 3
Once the onions becomes golden, add the cooked dal and salt and allow it to boil.
Step 4
Garnish Parippu Moloshyam with coriander leaves and serve hot with steamed rice and papadam.
Tip
Taste the gravy before adding the main ingredient. It should be well-seasoned and balanced on its own — the protein or vegetable will dilute it slightly.
