Pappada Vada
A traditional Kerala sweet snack made with care and a generous hand of ghee. The kind of thing grandmothers make for festivals and grandchildren make excuses to visit for.
Ingredientsfor 3 servings
- 1 cup Rice powder
- 2 tsp Chilly Powder
- 1/4 tsp Sesame seeds Ellu
- 1/4 tsp Asafoetida powder Kayaam
- 5 nos Pappadam
- Salt, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing pappada vada, make a paste by mixing rice powder, salt, chilly powder, asafoetida and sesame seeds with required water.
Step 2
Heat the oil in a frying pan, dip pappadam in the above mixture and put into hot oil.
Step 3
Press frequently to get crispy pappadams. Fry till it become a golden brown.
Step 4
Pappada vada is ready. Serve as a snack.
Tip
Jaggery burns easily. Melt it on low heat and always strain it to remove grit before adding it to the mixture.
