Papaya-Cherupayar Thoran
Papaya and green gram cooked with coconut and other ingredients.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 2 cup Papaya — grated
- 1 cup Green gram Cherupayar
- 1 cup Coconut — grated
- 4 nos Onion
- 2 nos Green chillies
- 1 tsp Ginger
- 3 nos Red onion
- Pepper powder A pinch
- Curry leaves, a few
- 2 nos Red chillies
- 1 tsp Turmeric powder
- Salt, to taste
- 1 tsp Mustard seeds
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing papaya - cherupayar thoran, first Heat the oil in a pan, let the mustard seeds crackle and fry onion.
Step 2
Next, add red chilly and curry leaves to it.
Step 3
Add the grated papaya to it.
Step 4
Next, add red onion, ginger, green chillies, turmeric powder and salt to it and give it a good stir.
Step 5
Add the grated coconut and mix it well.
Step 6
Cover the with pan with a lid and cook it.
Step 7
Remove the lid after some time and add the cooked cherupayar to it and Stir everything together thoroughly.
Step 8
Add the curry leaves to it and cover it with a lid and cook for some more time.
Step 9
Get it from flame and convert it to serving dish.
Step 10
Papaya-cherupayar thoran, a recipe is ready. Serve it with rice.
Tip
The pan should be completely dry when you finish — no moisture should remain. That dryness is what gives thoran its characteristic texture.
