Pallu (Masala) Pathiri
Pallu pathiri Is A Dish because of its Resemblence to teeth , It Is called Pallu Pathiri.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 2 Glasses Roasted rice powder
- 2 Glasses Water
- 1/2 tsp Fennel seeds perumjeerakam
- 1/2 tsp Garam Masala powder
- 1/4 cup Coconut — grated
- 4 nos Small onions (Kunjulli)
- Salt, as needed
Preparation
Step 1
Sieve the roasted rice powder using a fine mesh.Boil the water with salt in a heavy bottom pan.When it starts to boil turn off the heat, slowly add the rice powder and stir continously.
Step 2
Grind the grated Coconut with small onions, fennel seeds and Garam masala powder. (without adding water) Add this Masala To The Dough And knead It Thoroughly.
Step 3
Roll out small portions of the dough into lime sized ball.
Step 4
Use an aluminium foil or banana leaf, apply some oil on it and flatten each balls into small pathiris by hand.Shape the edges of the pathiri like tooth by hand.
Step 5
Steam the pathiri inside an aluminium foil or banana leaf for 15 -20 minutes. Before serving dip it in coconut milk for few minutes and serve with chicken /mutton/beef curry.
Tip
Cook on medium-high heat, not scorching hot. You want the bread to puff and develop spots, not burn.
