Padavalam With Parippu Curry

Ingredientsfor 10 servings
- 200 g Snake guard padavalam
- 100 g Toor daal (Thuvara parippu)
- 1/2 piece Onion
- 1/2 piece Tomato
- 2 nos Green chilly
- 1 tsp Chilly powder
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
- Salt, to taste
- 2 nos Red dry chilly
- 1/2 tsp Mustard
- 2 tbsp Oil
- Water, to taste
- Curry leaves, to taste
- 1 cup Grinded coconut
- 2 Shallots
- ¼ tsp Turmeric powder
- Water required
- Curry leaves, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
Cut the padavalam in to small pieces.
Step 2
Cook it with cleaned thuvara parippu, onion, tomato, green chilly, salt, red chilly powder, turmeric powder and water as needed.
Step 3
Mash it with a wooden spoon.
Step 4
Grind coconut 1 cup with 2 shallots and ¼ tsp turmeric powder and water as needed Add grinded coconut and curry leaves.
Step 5
Heat the oil in a vessel and cook red dry chilly and mustard in it.
Step 6
Mix it with curry and again let it go for 3-5 minutes.
Tip
The oil separating from the masala is your signal that the base is properly cooked. Do not add the main ingredient before you see those pools of oil on the surface.
