Paal Paratha-Milk Paratha
A home-style Kerala dish made with care and the kind of spice knowledge that comes from watching someone else cook it a hundred times. Each step matters, and the result is worth the effort.
Ingredientsfor 2 servings
- 1 cup All purpose flour/maida
- 1 Egg
- Millk as required to make dough
- Salt, to taste
- Sunflower oil, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
In a roomy mixing bowl, add maida,egg,salt and Stir everything together thoroughly.add milk little by little to make a dough.
Step 2
Knead it for 10-15 minutes.cover the dough with a wet cloth and keep it for 15 minutes.
Step 3
Make medium size balls out of the dough.
Step 4
Roll out the balls into a thin sheet.apply some oil and fold the paratha into a square.
Step 5
Gently roll it out again.smear some oil on a hot tawa,place the paratha on the pan.after a minute flip it over and let the other side cook for a minute.
Step 6
Paal paratha is ready.serve it with chicken roast.
Tip
Coconut oil is the default cooking fat in Kerala kitchens. It adds a depth of flavour that other oils simply cannot match in these recipes.
