Ottada Easy
Ottada with Banana Leaves is a Kerala sweet/snack which is made with rice flour and coconut-sugar filling steamed in banana leaf. It is a very tasty dish which can be had as an evening snack.
Ingredientsfor 5 servings
- 1 cup Rice flour — roasted
- 3/4 cup Coconut — grated
- 5 tbsp Sugar
- Salt, to taste
- 1 tsp Coconut oil
- Plantain leaf vaattiyathu, Vazhayila
Preparation
Step 1
Add salt and coconut oil to the rice flour and make it into a dough by adding enough water.
Step 2
Spread the dough on the vazhayila pieces.
Step 3
Mix together the grated coconut and sugar well.
Step 4
Put this mixutre inside the adas and fold the vazhayilas.
Step 5
Cook both the sides of the ada on a dosa tawa.
Tip
Jaggery burns easily. Melt it on low heat and always strain it to remove grit before adding it to the mixture.
