Orotti
A South Indian dish, very popular in Malabar region. the simplest and the most commonly prepared one among dishes. In this recipe I used wheat flour to make the breakfast dish.
Ingredientsfor 2 servings
- 2 cup Wheat flour
- 1 cup Coconut — grated
- Salt, to taste
- Water, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing the healthy dish, first take a bowl and add the wheat flour along with grated coconut and salt. Mix all together adding little water at a time and make a sticky dough.
Step 2
Keep some water in a bowl and set aside. Take a leaf, dip the fingers into the water and spread the dough into a thick bread and place another leaf on the top.
Step 3
Heat a clay pan/non stock pan and cook the rounds along with leaf on both sides until golden brown.
Step 4
Remove the leaves and cook again for few seconds.
Step 5
The dish is ready.
Tip
Let the dish rest for a few minutes after cooking. Flavours settle and meld during this time, and the texture often improves.
