Neymeen Varuthathu
The smell of fish cooking in coconut oil with curry leaves is the smell of every fishing village kitchen in Kerala. Quick to cook, deeply satisfying, and always served with hot rice.
Ingredientsfor 2 servings
- 4 Neymeen
- 1 tsp Pepper powder
- 1 tsp Chilli powder
- Turmeric powder
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Ginger garlic paste
- 1 Onion
- 2 tsp Water
Preparation
Step 1
Clean and cut neymeen into small pieces.In a mixer add chilli powder,pepper powder,turmeric powder,onion,ginger garlic paste,2tsp water and salt.Marinate the fish pieces with ground paste.
Step 2
Keep this fish in a refrigerator for 15 minutes. After 15minutes take out from refrigerator.
Step 3
Warm coconut oil in a kadai then fry ney meen one by one for 2 minutes.
Step 4
When one side of fish is cooked,then turned other side and Let it cook for 2 minutes.
Step 5
Now ney meen varuthathu is ready to serve.
Tip
A clay pot gives fish curry a distinctive taste that metal pans cannot replicate. If you have a manchatti, use it.
