Nadan Crab Roast
It is an easy and spicy crab roast using kudampuli and coconut oil. It can be served with boiled rice.
Ingredientsfor 6 servings
- 1/2 kg Crab
- 2 nos Onion
- 1 tsp Ginger / garlic paste
- 4 Green chilli
- 1/4 Garam masala
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 2 tsp Kashmiri chilli powder
- 1/2 Pepper powder
- 3 Tamarind kudampuli
- 1/2 Water
- Curryleaves
- 3 tbsp Coconut oil
- Salt, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing the Nadan Crab Roast, firstly cook the cleaned crab in a mud pot with salt, turmeric powder, kudampuli, green chillies, curry leaves. Ginger, garlic paste and water. Put the lid on and cook it till the water is reduced.
Step 2
Warm coconut oil in a pan, add the chopped onions, curry leaves and cook it, stirring. Add turmeric, kashmiri chilli powder. Pepper powder,garam masala powder and cook it, stirring again.
Step 3
Then transfer this into the crab and Stir everything together thoroughly till the masalas are coated with the crab.
Step 4
Now the Nadan Crab Roast is ready to serve. Serve it hot with rice, idiyappam or appam.

Tip
A heavy-bottomed pan or cast iron skillet gives you the best results for a proper Kerala fry. Thin pans burn the spices before the meat dries.
