Nadan Chow Chow Thoran
A classic Kerala thoran where mixed meets freshly grated coconut in a quick, dry stir-fry. Mustard seeds crackle in coconut oil, curry leaves crisp up, and the whole thing comes together in minutes.
Ingredientsfor 6 servings
- 2 cup Chow chow
- 1 cup Coconut — grated
- 1 Onion
- 1 tsp Cumin seeds
- 1 tsp Chilli powder
- 1 tsp Oil
- 1 tsp Salt
Preparation
Step 1
Warm the oil in a kadai and add mustard seeds.
Step 2
When mustard allow to crackles add urad dal,stir for 2 minutes.
Step 3
Add red chilli and stir for 2 minutes.
Step 4
Add chopped chow chow and stir for 2 minutes.
Step 5
Grind coconut, cumin seeds,onion and chilli powder in a mixer.
Step 6
Add this ground mix to chow chow mix and add turmeric powder and chilli powder to this and Let it cook for 10 minutes.
Step 7
Now chow chow thoran is ready to serve.
Tip
Shred the vegetable as fine as you can — the thinner the cuts, the better the thoran. A sharp knife makes all the difference.
