Naadan Style Chakka Udachathu
A traditional Kerala sweet snack made with care and a generous hand of ghee. The kind of thing grandmothers make for festivals and grandchildren make excuses to visit for.
Ingredientsfor 3 servings
- 500 g Raw jackfruit
- 3 Pods Garlic
- 1/2 Pc Coconut
- 4 nos Shallots
- 3 nos Green chilly
- 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp Chilly powder
- Water, to taste
- Salt, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
Cook the raw jackfruit, chilly powder, turmeric powder, salt and water as needed in a pressure cooker.
Step 2
Grind the coconut, cumin seeds, shallots, garlic and water to make a smooth paste.
Step 3
Mix in the raw jackfruit and grinded coconut.
Step 4
Mash it with a wooden spoon thoroughly.
Step 5
And cook it again for 5-10 minutes.
Step 6
Serve it for dinner with kanji.
Tip
Jaggery burns easily. Melt it on low heat and always strain it to remove grit before adding it to the mixture.
