Naadan Meen Karri With Kudam Puli
A traditional Kerala sweet snack made with care and a generous hand of ghee. The kind of thing grandmothers make for festivals and grandchildren make excuses to visit for.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 1/4 kg Fish King Fish
- 5 nos Kokum Kudam (puli)
- 2 tbsp Red chilly powder
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1/2 tbsp Coriander powder
- 1 nos Onion big
- Or
- 8 - Shallots (Kunjulli)
- Ginger A medium size piece
- 2 nos Green chillies
- 7 nos Garlic pods
- 5 Stems Curry leaves
- 1/2 tbsp Mustard seeds
- 1/2 tbsp Fenugreek (Uluva)
- Salt, to taste
- 4 - Water
Preparation
Step 1
Warm the oil in a pan.
Step 2
Let the mustard seeds crackle.
Step 3
Add onions, green chillies, ginger, garlic and 3 stems of curry leaves and cook until onion becomes slight golden brown colour.
Step 4
Add 1/2 spoon of coriander powder, chilly powder and turmeric powder.
Step 5
Add kokum and fenugreek.
Step 6
Add enough water, 2 stems of curry leaves and salt and Stir everything together thoroughly.
Step 7
Add fish pieces into it and cook for 12 - 15 minutes.
Step 8
This is very delicious Kerala fish curry. Please try it.
Tip
Jaggery burns easily. Melt it on low heat and always strain it to remove grit before adding it to the mixture.
