Naadan Mathi Vattichathu

Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 10 nos Sardine
- 3 Tomato
- 3 tsp Red chilly powder
- 1/2. tsp Turmeric powder
- 1 tsp Pepper powder
- Garlic — crushed
- 4 Green chilly
- 1/2 tsp Fenugreek seed
- 1/2 tsp Mustard
- 2 String curry leaves
- 3 tbsp Oil
- Salt, as needed
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing Naadan Mathi Vattichathu, first clean sardines and wash well. Drain well. Stir in masala powders over sardines.
Step 2
Add 1 1/2 cup water and set aside.
Step 3
Heat the oil in a clay pot, allow to crackle mustard and fenugreek seeds. When it Start to allow to crackle, add curry leaves and crushed garlic and stir for a few seconds.
Step 4
Add tomato and green chilly.
Step 5
Continue cooking for 2 to 3 minutes.
Step 6
Add sardine along with masala water. Let it cook for 15 minutes in low flame.
Step 7
Naadan mathi vattichathu is ready.
Tip
The binding point is everything — cook the mixture just until it holds shape when pressed. Overcooked, it turns hard; undercooked, it crumbles.
