Mutton Soup Kerala Style
This mutton, Mutton bones cooked in an earthen pot with ample water and garnished in ghee.
Ingredientsfor 3 servings
- 150 g Mutton bones chopped into pieces
- Ginger — chopped
- Curry leaves, a few
- 1 tbsp Ghee
- 1 tsp Mustard seeds
- 1 tbsp Shallots (Kunjulli)
- Salt, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing traditional mutton soup, place the mutton bone pieces in an earthen pot and add 7 cups of water.
Step 2
Boil and then lower the heat. Add ginger and curry leaves and simmer for 45 minutes. Remove the earthen pot from fire.
Step 3
Strain the mutton soup and set aside. Add required salt.
Step 4
Place a pan on the stove and heat ghee. let the mustard seeds crackle and fry shallots. Pour the fried shallots and ghee into the mutton soup.
Step 5
Kerala mutton soup, an easy nutritious recipe, is ready.
Tip
If the gravy reduces too fast before the meat is tender, add hot water in small amounts. Cold water toughens the meat.
