Mutta Puli
A typical kerala dish with egg, but tastes like a fish curry.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 4 nos Egg
- 1 nos Onion — chopped
- 1 nos Tomato — chopped
- 3 nos Green chillies — slit
- Curry leaves, a few
- Coconut oil, to taste
- 2 tsp Ginger — crushed
- 1 tsp Garlic — crushed
- 1 tbsp Coriander powder
- 2 tsp Chilly powder
- 1 tsp Turmeric powder
- Salt, to taste
- 1 Lemon Tamarind — soaked in water
- 1 tsp Mustard seeds
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing mutta puli, Heat the oil in pan, let the mustard seeds crackle.
Step 2
Add onion, ginger and garlic. cook well.
Step 3
Add tomato, green chillies, turmeric powder, chilly powder and coriander powder.
Step 4
When oil appears on top, add salt and curry leaves.
Step 5
Add the tamarind juice and allow it to boil. Add little water to make more gravy.
Step 6
Turn off the heat. Now pour egg 1 by 1 and lightly stir with a ladle.
Step 7
Mutta puli is ready. Serve it hot.
Tip
Hard-boil the eggs first, then make shallow cuts on the surface before adding them to the gravy — this lets the masala flavour penetrate inside.
