Mutta Kizhi
A quick and satisfying egg dish that proves you do not need expensive ingredients to eat well. Boiled eggs in a spiced gravy, or scrambled with onions and curry leaves — simple Kerala cooking at its most practical.
Ingredientsfor 5 servings
- 2, boiled Eggs
- 2 Onion
- 2 Green chilly
- 1 tsp Chilly powder
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
- Salt, to taste
- Curry leaves, to taste
- 1 cup Flour
- Oil to fry
Preparation
Step 1
Knead flour with water and salt to taste. Set aside.
Step 2
Slice the boiled eggs into small pieces.
Step 3
Cook onion, green chilly in oil. Mix in the chilly powder, turmeric powder, curry leaves and salt.
Step 4
Add the sliced eggs and Stir everything together thoroughly. Take it from flame.
Step 5
Make balls out of the dough and roll it out.
Step 6
Slice it with a glass with sharp edge.
Step 7
Fill the egg masala in each circles and joint the sides.
Step 8
Repeat the same with the remaining dough and masala.
Step 9
Fry it in oil and serve it as an evening snack.
Tip
Hard-boil the eggs first, then make shallow cuts on the surface before adding them to the gravy — this lets the masala flavour penetrate inside.
