Mushroom Thoran Restaurant Style
Simple, honest, and on every Kerala lunch plate — mushroom thoran is coconut oil, grated coconut, and a handful of spices working quietly together. No fuss, just good food.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 500 g Mushrooms — sliced
- 1 nos Onion — chopped
- 3 nos Green chillies — chopped
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1 tbsp Chilly powder
- 3 tbsp Coconut — grated
- Curry leaves, to taste
- Coconut oil, to taste
- Water, to taste
- Salt, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing mushroom thoran, cook mushrooms, onions, green chillies, turmeric powder, salt, chilly powder with required water in a china dish till the water drains.
Step 2
Next, add grated coconut, curry leaves and coconut oil. Stir everything together thoroughly till you get a dry consistency.
Step 3
Mushroom thoran is ready. Serve hot.
Tip
The pan should be completely dry when you finish — no moisture should remain. That dryness is what gives thoran its characteristic texture.
