Moringa Thalippu | Nutritious Drumstick Leaves Soup
Soothing and peppery, this Kerala-style soup is what grandmothers prescribe for cold days and sore throats. Simple ingredients, quick to make, and genuinely restorative.
Ingredientsfor 2 servings
- 1 handful Drumstick leaves (Muringayila)
- 1 cup Rice cooked water Kanji Vellam
- 1½ tbsp Coconut oil
- 4 nos Shallots — chopped
- 2 nos Green chilly — sliced
- Salt, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
Pour oil into a pan and heat it and add chopped shallots.
Step 2
Cook until the shallots turns light golden.
Step 3
Next, add Rice cooked water.
Step 4
Add green chilly.
Step 5
Season with salt to your taste.
Step 6
Add drumstick leaves.
Step 7
Bring to a rolling boil for maximum one minute.
Step 8
Serve.
Tip
Grinding spices fresh makes a noticeable difference. Pre-ground powders lose their punch within weeks. Buy whole, toast lightly, and grind as you need.
