Molagootal - Brahmin Special
Molagootal – Brahmin Special is a dish, very nutritious and tasty. The mildly flavored Molagootal – Brahmin Special goes well with hot rice.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 1/2 kg White gourd (Kumbalanga)
- 1/2 kg Pumpkin Mathanga
- 1 tsp Turmeric powder
- 4 nos Red chillies
- 1 tsp Cumin seeds (Jeerakam)
- 2 tsp Mustard seeds
- 1 cup Coconut — grated
- 2 cup Tuvar dal Tumara parippu
- 2 tsp Urad dal
- 2 tsp Coconut oil
- Salt, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing molagootal - brahmin special recipe, wash tuvar dal and boil in cooker with sufficient quantity of water and turmeric powder.
Step 2
Cut and wash white gourd and pumpkin. Boil in water. Add turmeric powder and salt.
Step 3
Add the cooked tuvar dal(step 1) to the cooked vegetable.
Step 4
Grind the grated coconut with red chillies and jeerakam.
Step 5
Add this ground item to the 3rd step and cook for few minutes.
Step 6
Fry mustard seeds and urad dal in coconut oil and add to the mixture.
Step 7
Add curry leaves. Molagootal - brahmin special recipe, is ready.
Tip
Fresh curry leaves make a genuine difference. Dried curry leaves are a poor substitute — if you cannot get fresh ones, increase the quantity and fry them longer.
