Modhakom
A home-style Kerala dish made with care and the kind of spice knowledge that comes from watching someone else cook it a hundred times. Each step matters, and the result is worth the effort.
Ingredientsfor 2 servings
- 1 cup Moong dal
- Dried ginger A small piece
- 3 Cubes Jaggery
- 3 tbsp Coconut
- 2 cup All purpose flour Maida
- Turmeric powder A pinch
- Salt, to taste
- Water, to taste
- Oil, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
First soak moong dal for about one hour and then cook well in a pressure cooker with water.
Step 2
Then empty the water present in cooker after cooking.
Step 3
Put the grated jaggery in a glass of water and boil. give it a good stir with a spoon until it becomes little bit thick.
Step 4
Next, add dried ginger pieces to the jaggery mixture.
Step 5
Pour the content onto the cooked moong dal. Then add coconut and Stir everything together thoroughly.
Step 6
When it becomes cold, roll into small balls.
Step 7
After that, put maida in a cup, add little bit salt and then a pinch of turmeric to obtain a yellow colour.
Step 8
Add water then Stir everything together thoroughly so that the batter looks like that of idli mix.
Step 9
Then pour sufficient in a pan and heat. When it becomes hot, take balls and dip in the batter and then fry in hot oil it.
Step 10
Beautiful and modhakom is ready. It will be very For kids.
Tip
Fresh curry leaves make a genuine difference. Dried curry leaves are a poor substitute — if you cannot get fresh ones, increase the quantity and fry them longer.
