Mixed Fruit Flakes
A traditional preparation from Kerala that balances flavour, texture, and aroma in the way that only home cooking can. No two households make it exactly the same, and that is the point.
Ingredientsfor 1 servings
- 1/2 glass Milk
- 3 tbsp Honey
- 1/3 nos Banana
- 1/3 nos Pear
- 3 tbsp Custard
- 200 g Cornflakes
- 5 Dates
- Almonds and raisins for topping
Preparation
Step 1
Boil custard powder and milk in low flame by stirring continuously.
Step 2
Turn off the heat once the mixture thickens.
Step 3
Fill 1/3rd of a serving glass with the custard and add banana pieces to it.
Step 4
Top it with cornflakes and almonds.
Step 5
Pour honey on top.
Step 6
Add another layer of custard with pieces of pear (or your favorite fruit).
Step 7
Top it with cornflakes and almonds. Pour honey to this.
Step 8
Add 3rd layer of custard with dates.
Step 9
Top this with remaining almonds, raisins and honey.
Step 10
Mixed fruit flakes is ready! You can have it right away or after cooling.
Tip
Fresh curry leaves make a genuine difference. Dried curry leaves are a poor substitute — if you cannot get fresh ones, increase the quantity and fry them longer.
