Meen Vada
A traditional Kerala sweet snack made with care and a generous hand of ghee. The kind of thing grandmothers make for festivals and grandchildren make excuses to visit for.
Ingredientsfor 3 servings
- 1 cup King fish cooked with salt
- 2 cup Gram flour kadala mavu
- 3 nos Green chillies — chopped
- 1 nos Onion — chopped
- Curry leaves, a few
- Coriander leaves, a few
- Salt, to taste
- 2 tsp Chilly powder
- 1 tsp Cumin seeds
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing meen vada, first mince the fish and set aside.
Step 2
Mix all other ingredients in a bowl. Add the fish and Stir everything together thoroughly.
Step 3
Make small balls and lightly press it.
Step 4
Fry it in oil.
Step 5
Meen vada is ready.
Tip
Jaggery burns easily. Melt it on low heat and always strain it to remove grit before adding it to the mixture.
