Meat Ball Curry
This homestyle beef curry is built on a foundation of shallots fried dark in coconut oil and spices toasted until they release their full aroma. It tastes even better the next morning, spooned over cold leftover rice.
Ingredientsfor 5 servings
- 2 cup Beef — minced
- 1/2 cup Potato — mashed
- 1/2 cup Onion — finely chopped
- 1 piece Ginger — finely chopped
- 1 sprig Curry leaves — finely chopped
- 2 nos Green chillies — chopped
- Salt, to taste
- 1 nos Egg
- Bread crumbs, to taste
- 1 cup Onion
- 2 nos Green chillies split
- 1 piece Ginger — chopped
- 1" piece Cinnamon (Karugapatta)
- 5 nos Cloves (Grambu)
- 4 nos Cardamom (Elakka)
- 1 tsp Coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp Pepper
- 1/4 cup Potato — sliced
- 1 nos Coconut extract reqd milk from it
- Oil, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
For making meat balls:- 1)Heat the oil in a pan.
Step 2
Add chopped onion, green chilly, ginger and pepper.
Step 3
Add minced beef, mashed potato and enough salt.
Step 4
Make small meat balls dip in beated egg, roll over bread crumps and fry it in oil.
Step 5
For making curry:- 1)Heat oil and add spices.
Step 6
Cook onion, green chilly, ginger.
Step 7
Add potato.
Step 8
Add coconut milk(thin) and allow to boil.
Step 9
Add salt.
Step 10
Add meat balls and Stir everything together thoroughly.
Step 11
After 2 minutes, add thick coconut milk.
Step 12
Before it starts to boil, take off from heat.
Tip
Taste the gravy before adding the main ingredient. It should be well-seasoned and balanced on its own — the protein or vegetable will dilute it slightly.
