Masala Sandwich (Step By Step Photos)
A home-style Kerala dish made with care and the kind of spice knowledge that comes from watching someone else cook it a hundred times. Each step matters, and the result is worth the effort.
Ingredientsfor 2 servings
- 1 Carrot
- 100 g Cabbage
- 1 Tomato
- 3 Chilly
- Capsicum half
- Coriander, to taste
- 1 inch Ginger
- 1 Egg
- ½ Ts Chili powder
- 1 Ts Coriander powder
- ½ Ts Chat masala
- Salt, to taste
- Oil, to taste
- 8 Bread
Preparation
Step 1
Chop onion, chilly, capsicum, coriander, ginger and tomato. Grate cabbage and carrot.
Step 2
Set a kadai over medium heat and pour in the oil.
Step 3
When the oil is heated, add onion and cook until it has softened.
Step 4
Add cabbage and fry for a minute.
Step 5
Add chillies and capsicum and sauté.
Step 6
Add the rest of the ingredients, except tomato and fry for 3 minutes.
Step 7
Stir in tomato and fry for about 2 minutes.
Step 8
Add chilly powder, coriander powder, chat masala and salt and fry.
Step 9
The vegetable should be cooked three fourth, Give it a stir now and then until that. Do not add water, the water in the vegetables are enough.
Step 10
Scramble egg in another vessel. Add salt necessary for the egg. Mix the scrambled egg to the vegetable mixture.
Step 11
Apply tomato sauce. Place the mixture on the bread slice.
Step 12
Cover it with another slice of bread and place it in toaster or in tawa. When done serve with sauce.
Tip
Fresh curry leaves make a genuine difference. Dried curry leaves are a poor substitute — if you cannot get fresh ones, increase the quantity and fry them longer.
