Masala Rice Balls
Kerala-style flavoured rice — each grain separate, gently spiced, and cooked until it is just tender. A squeeze of lime and a handful of fried cashews finish it off.
Ingredientsfor 6 servings
- 250 g Chicken
- 2 cup Rice flour
- 3 Onion
- 3 Green chilly
- 1 tsp Ginger garlic paste
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1 tsp Red chilly powder
- Garam masala pinch
- 1/2 tsp Pepper powder
- 1 cup Coconut — grated
- Curry leaves, to taste
- 2 tbsp Oil
- Salt, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
Clean the chicken and marinate it with chilli powder,turmeric powder and salt to taste.Heat the oil in a pan and fry in hot oil it.
Step 2
Mince the chicken pieces.
Step 3
Heat the oil in a vessel and cook onion,ginger garlic paste,green chilly and curry leaves till it turn soft and brown.
Step 4
Add minced chicken,1/4 tsp turmeric powder,garam masala and pepper powder.cook it, stirring again for 2-3 minutes.
Step 5
In a bowl add rice flour and salt.add water into it and knead well to a smooth dough.
Step 6
Make lemon size balls out of the dough and pat them into small disc.add 1 tbsp chicken masala into it.
Step 7
Make a small ball and roll each prepared balls in the grated coconut.
Step 8
Steam let it go for 20-25 minutes.
Step 9
Masala rice balls are ready to serve.
Tip
Soak the rice for at least 20 minutes before cooking. This ensures even cooking and prevents the grains from breaking.
