Masala Kozhukkatta

Ingredientsfor 3 servings
- For rice balls
- 2 cup Rice powder
- Salt, to taste
- Water, to taste
- For frying
- 1 cup Coconut
- 1/2 tsp Mustard seed
- 1 tsp Chilli powder
- 5 Shallots
- 3 Garlic
- 1 Hand Curry leaves
- 2 tbsp Oil
Preparation
Step 1
In a large mixing bowl, add rice flour,salt. Add semi hot water little by little and knead into a soft dough.
Step 2
Make medium size balls out of the dough and steam let it go for 20 minutes.
Step 3
Cut each the cooked rice balls into 4 pieces.
Step 4
Get a mixer grinder and add grated coconut,garlic and shallots.
Step 5
Add red chilly powder and salt to taste.
Step 6
Blend it to make a semi fine paste without adding water.
Step 7
Pour oil into a pan and heat it and allow to crackle mustard seed,then add chopped shallots and curry leaves.stir for a few seconds.
Step 8
Add steamed and sliced balls into it.Fold everything together gently.
Step 9
Add coconut mix.
Step 10
Give a quick toss Stir everything together thoroughly and turn off the heat.
Step 11
Serve while still hot/warm.

Let the dish rest for a few minutes after cooking. Flavours settle and meld during this time, and the texture often improves.
