Malabar Prawn Masala | Chemmeen Masala

Ingredientsfor 7 servings
- 1 kg Prawns
- 1 tbsp Red chilli powder
- 1 tbsp Kashmiri chilli powder
- 1/2 tsp Garam Masala
- 1 tsp Turmeric powder
- Salt, to taste
- Oil — for frying
- 3 tbsp Oil
- 4 nos Onion Large(Sliced
- 1½ tsp Ginger garlic — crushed
- 5 nos Green chilli — crushed
- 1 tsp Pepper powder
- 1/2 tsp Garam masala
- 3 nos Tomato — chopped
- 1/2 cup Coriander leaves — chopped
- Salt, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
Clean and wash the prawns.
Step 2
Gather all ingredients for marinating prawns.
Step 3
Prepare a mixture and apply it on the drained prawns. Set aside for a few minutes for marination. Take a pan, pour enough oil and fry the prawns.
Step 4
Keep the fried prawns aside.
Step 5
Heat the oil in a bottom thick pan and add crushed ginger garlic and cook for 1 minute.
Step 6
Add sliced onion and salt. cook until It turns brown. Add oil if needed. Onion should be well sauteed in this recipe. So never compromise on this step.
Step 7
Add crushed green chilly and cook it, stirring well.
Step 8
Add sliced tomato and Stir everything together thoroughly. Put the lid on and cook for around 5 minutes or until tomatoes are cooked.
Step 9
Add pepper powder and garam masala. cook it, stirring well until it releases a pleasant aroma.
Step 10
Add fried prawns and Stir everything together thoroughly.
Step 11
Add some coriander leaves at this stage.
Step 12
Serve the dish with rice, pulao, ghee rice, chapati or any Indian bread.🙂.
Tip
Seafood cooks in minutes. The single biggest mistake is overcooking — the moment fish turns opaque or prawns curl and go pink, they are done.
