Malabar Fish Fry Masala
Slow-roasted in coconut oil with a generous hand of spices, this fish fry develops layers of flavour as it dries out on the pan. The patience pays off — every piece is coated and concentrated.
Ingredientsfor 6 servings
- 1/2 kg Fish
- 2 tsp Kashmiri Chilli Powder
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1 tsp Lemon juice
- 2 nos Onion large
- 1 tbsp Ginger Garlic paste
- 5 Nos. Green Chilly
- 2 Nos. Tomato small
- 1/2 tsp Garam masala powder
- 3/4 tsp Pepper powder
- Few Curry leaves
- 2 tbsp Oil
- As needed Salt
Preparation
Step 1
Marinate fish with chilli powder, turmeric, salt & lemon juice.
Step 2
Then pan-fry them on both sides.
Step 3
Set aside.
Step 4
Heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan and add ginger, garlic paste and chopped onion. cook until the onion turns lightly browned.
Step 5
Next, add garam masala powder, pepper powder and Let it cook for 2 minutes. Add chopped tomato, crushed green chilly and curry leaves. Continue cooking for 7 to 8 minutes in medium flame.
Step 6
Add fish pieces. Cover with a lid & cook for 5 more mins in low flame and turn off the heat. Delicious Malabar Fish Fry Masala is ready.
Tip
The final handful of curry leaves should go in right at the end, off the heat — they should crackle and crisp in the residual heat.
