Madhura Curry Payasam
Madhura curry paayasam is a kerala style paayasam.the main ingredient is kadala parippu/channa daal.we usually can find this madhura curry paayasam in tradional functions like Eid,onam etc.this kheer is my mom's favorite.
Ingredientsfor 6 servings
- 1 cup Rice flour
- 2 cup Water
- Salt, to taste
- 2 tbsp Oil
- 1 cup Channa daal/ kadala parippu
- 1 cup Water
- 1 cup Jaggery
- 2 cup Coconut milk
- 3 tsp Ghee
- 10 nos Cashew nuts
- 15 nos Raisins
- 10 small Coconut pieces
- 1 tsp Cardamom powder
- 1 Banana
Preparation
Step 1
The first step is to make rice balls.knead the rice flor with water and salt to taste until you get into a smooth consistent dough.take some dough in your hand and using your fingers make small balls.steam let it go for 20-25 minutes and set aside.
Step 2
Soak the channa for 3 hours.in a pressure cooker cook the soaked channa with 1 cup of water.cook until 2 whistle.
Step 3
Get a vessel add jaggery and water.then heat it until it becomes a liquid form.strain it using a strainer.
Step 4
In a large vessel add the cooked n a large vessel add the cooked rice balls,cooked channa,chopped banana and give it a good stir.rice balls,cooked channa,chopped banana,coconut milk and give it a good stir.
Step 5
Let it go for 5 minutes in medium heat and stir continuously.
Step 6
Add jaggery syrup,salt and cardamom powder into it and stir continuously.
Step 7
In another pan heat 3 tsp of ghee and add coconut pieces and cashew nuts.cook it, stirring for 2 minutes.
Step 8
Add it into the paayasam.
Step 9
The delicious madhura curry paayasam is ready to be served.
Tip
The payasam will thicken significantly as it cools. Stop cooking when it is still slightly thinner than your target consistency.
