Kozhi Ada (Chicken Hot Pockets )
Kozhi Ada is one of the popular snack from Malabar. Kozhi Ada is an unavoidable snack in the Ifthar parties. Kozhi Ada is really tasty.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 200 g Boneless Chicken cooked and minced it
- 2 Onion — finely chopped
- 1 tsp Garlic / ginger paste
- 3 Green chilli
- 1/4 cup Bengal gram dal cooked and keep it aside
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1/ 2 tsp Chilli powder
- 1/2 Coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp Pepper powder
- 1/4 tsp Garam masala powder
- Coriander leaves
- Salt, to taste
- 3 tbsp Oil
- For Ada
- 1 cup Wheat flour
- Water, to taste
- Salt, to taste
- Oil — for frying
Preparation
Step 1
Warm the oil in a pan, add onion, ginger, garlic paste, green chilli and cook it, stirring.
Step 2
Add all the above mentioned powders, bengal gram dal, minced chicken, salt and coriander leaves, Stir everything together thoroughly.Now the filling is ready.
Step 3
In a bowl, add wheat flour, salt and oil, Stir everything together thoroughly by adding little water. Knead well and make a smooth dough.Take each ball from the dough and roll it to large chapathis. Cut out with a small round cutter or with a lid.
Step 4
Place 1 tsp of filling and fold like a pocket.
Step 5
Press the edges well and pinch the edges together. ( )Repeat this till the filling is finished.
Step 6
Set a pan over medium heat and pour in the oil, fry each chicken adas on medium heat on both sides till it goes golden brown.
Step 7
Delicious Chicken Ada is ready. Serve hot with tomato ketchup.
Tip
Marinate for at least 30 minutes if you can — the spices penetrate deeper and the chicken stays juicier.
