Kothamara Thoran
A classic Kerala thoran where mixed meets freshly grated coconut in a quick, dry stir-fry. Mustard seeds crackle in coconut oil, curry leaves crisp up, and the whole thing comes together in minutes.
Ingredientsfor 1 servings
- 1 cup Kothamara
- 1 cup Coconut — grated
- 1 tsp Cumin seeds
- 1 tsp Coconut oil
- 1 nos Onion
- 1 tsp Chilly powder
- 1 tsp Turmeric powder
- 2 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Oil
- 1 tsp Mustard
- 2 nos Red chilli
Preparation
Step 1
Pour oil into a kadai and heat it add mustard.When mustard crackles add red chiil,Let it cook for 2 minutes.
Step 2
Cook kothamara in an oven for 10 minutes.
Step 3
Add cooked kothamara to this kadai add salt also.Let it cook for 2 minutes.
Step 4
Grind coconut,cumin seeds,onion and chilly powder in a mixer.
Step 5
Add this ground mix to cooked kothama mix and cook for a minute.
Step 6
Now kothamara thoran is ready.
Tip
Shred the vegetable as fine as you can — the thinner the cuts, the better the thoran. A sharp knife makes all the difference.
