Kothamalli Podi - Brahmin Special
Urad dal, red chillies, coriander leaves and other ingredients are grind together.
Ingredientsfor 10 servings
- 1 cup Urad dal/Ulundu paruppu parippu (Uzhunnu)
- 1 nos Red chillies
- 1 bunch Coriander leaves
- 1 piece Jaggery
- 2 tsp Salt
- Tamarind lemon size
- Asafoetida A pinch (Kayam)
- 2 tsp Coconut oil
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing kothamalli / coriander leaves podi - brahmin special, first roast urad dal and red chillies in coconut oil for a few minutes. Wash coriander leaves and allow it to dry. 2)Grind the coriander leaves and the above roasted items(urad dal and red chillies) separately.
Step 2
After grinding the above two items separately then mix both the mixtures and grind them along with tamarind together for a short period.
Step 3
Add asafoetida and salt.
Step 4
Add jaggery by crushing it to powder form.
Step 5
Kothamalli / coriander leaves podi - brahmin special recipe, is ready. This item is considered as a pickle item and is ideal to serve with curd rice.
Tip
Fresh curry leaves make a genuine difference. Dried curry leaves are a poor substitute — if you cannot get fresh ones, increase the quantity and fry them longer.
