King Fish Masala
Fresh fish cooked the Kerala way — with coconut, curry leaves, and a tartness that comes from kudampuli or tamarind. Coastal Kerala cooking at its simplest and best.
Ingredientsfor 2 servings
- 1 kg King fish
- 2 nos Onions — thinly sliced
- 1 nos Tomatoes
- 5 Pods Garlic
- 1 inch Ginger
- 1 inch Cinnamon
- 1 tsp Cumin
- 1 tbsp Kashmiri chilli powder
- 1 tsp Pepper — crushed
- Salt, to taste
- Tamarind juice squeeze it out of tamarind of a size of gooseberry
- Cilantro to garnish
Preparation
Step 1
Cook the Fish pieces in the tamarind juice with salt and pepper.
Step 2
Warm the oil in a pan and cook onions, tomatoes, ginger and garlic(ginger and garlic should be ground).
Step 3
Add cumin, cinnamon and cook well.
Step 4
Add chilli powder, pepper and salt.
Step 5
Add the cooked fish pieces with the remaining tamarind juice to it.
Step 6
Cover and simmer on low heat. :- Let the gravy get dry and thick.
Step 7
Take it off the heat. and garnish with cilantro.
Step 8
King Fish Masala is ready! :- Serve the King Fish Masala hot! :- eating King Fish Masala!
