Kerala Style Spicy Fish Fry(Meen)
Pan-fried until the edges go dark and crispy, this fish fry is the kind of dish you eat standing in the kitchen before it ever reaches the table. Dry-roasted with spices and finished with a fistful of curry leaves.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 1k g King Fish/any other fish
- 1 tsp Chilly powder
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1 tsp Pepper powder
- 1 tsp Vinegar can add few drops of lime juice instead
- Salt, as needed
- 1 tsp Coconut oil
- Oil — for frying
Preparation
Step 1
Clean and cut the fish in medium pieces.
Step 2
Make a paste adding chilly powder,turmeric powder, pepper powder, salt along with coconut oil & vinegar.
Step 3
Marinate the fish with the above masala for 30 min.
Step 4
Fry in hot oil them.
Step 5
Serve while still hot with rice.
Tip
Patience at the dry-roasting stage is everything. The longer you let the moisture evaporate, the more concentrated the flavour becomes.
