Kerala Style Cauliflower Masala
Kerala style Cauliflower Masala with green peas is a dish, a favorite of vegetarians as well as non-vegetarians. This nutritious dish makes an excellent combination with both rice and rotis.
Ingredientsfor 2 servings
- 1 nos Cauliflower
- 1 nos Onion big
- 1 nos Tomato medium
- Or 2 small ones
- 1/4 cup Green peas — optional
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp Chilly powder
- 3/4 tsp Coriander powder
- 1/4 tsp Ginger paste
- Garlic paste less than 1/4 tsp
- Salt, to taste
- 1 tbsp Oil
Preparation
Step 1
Wash the cauliflower florets well.
Step 2
Cook it with enough water, turmeric powder, chilly powder and salt for about 5 minutes on a medium flame.
Step 3
Do not over cook it bcoz that will make the florets break into very small pieces.
Step 4
Take it off the heat.
Step 5
Depending on the quantity of gravy you want, drain off the excess water from the vessel.
Step 6
Heat the oil in another pan.
Step 7
Add onions and sauté.
Step 8
Add ginger paste, garlic paste and cook until the onions become transparent.
Step 9
Add a little bit turmeric powder, chilly powder, coriander powder and salt.
Step 10
Stir everything together thoroughly.
Step 11
Add tomato slices and cook, till they blend well.
Step 12
Add green peas along with half cooked cauliflower.
Step 13
Cook for about 2 minutes.
Step 14
Check the level of salt and adjust accordingly. :- Check the level of masala and add coriander (1/4 tsp) over the cauliflower and cook for another 1 min.
Step 15
Serve while still hot with chappathis.
Tip
