Kerala Stuffed Green Chillies - Mulagu Bajji
Kerala Green chillies(Mulagu Bajji) stuffed with onion mixture.
Ingredientsfor 5 servings
- Dal
- Salt, to taste
- Baking soda A pinch
- 10 nos Green chillies
- Onions for stuffing
- Thymol A little, Ajwain
- Water
- Oil
Preparation
Step 1
Cut the chillies lengthwise and deseed them.
Step 2
Soak them in salt water for half an hour.
Step 3
Remove the chillies from water and place them on a tissue paper.
Step 4
Mix together gram dal and water and make it into a thick gravy.
Step 5
Add baking soda and salt.
Step 6
Stuff the chillies with finely chopped onions.
Step 7
Set a pan over medium heat and pour in the oil.
Step 8
Dip the stuffed chillies in the gravy.
Step 9
Put them into the hot oil and fry them like aloo bajjis.
Tip
Drain on a wire rack instead of paper towels — the rack keeps the bottom from getting steamy and losing its crispness.
