Kerala Rava Ladoo
A sweet prepared with semolina or rava. Kerala Rava Ladoo can be prepared in a jiffy and can be served for special occasions and festivals.
Ingredientsfor 3 servings
- 2 cup Semolina Rava/Sooji
- 1 cup Coconut — grated
- 3/4 cup Ghee
- 2 cup Sugar
- 1/4 cup Milk
- 15 nos Cashews — halved
- 15 nos Raisins Onakka munthiri
- 4 nos Cardamom powdered finely (Elakka)
- 4 nos Cloves powdered finely (Grambu)
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing Kerala Rava Ladoo, first heat 3 tbsp of ghee in a nonstick pan.
Step 2
Add rava and stir till the rava is light brown.
Step 3
Allow it to cool.
Step 4
Fry cashews and raisins separately in ghee and keep them aside.
Step 5
Powder rava and sugar in a mixie so that it blends easily. Set aside.
Step 6
Powder the dessicated coconut.
Step 7
Add cardamom and cloves along with this coconut to the cool rava mix and Stir everything together thoroughly.
Step 8
Sprinkle milk over the mix.
Step 9
Make small balls by pouring ghee slowly.
Step 10
When the consistency is little loose, make balls off it.
Step 11
Place one cashew/raisin to each ball.
Step 12
The Rava Ladoo balls will become firm when kept for 15 min.
Step 13
Do not use too much milk as the rava ladoo won`t be firm. Sprinkle the needful to get it mixed.
Step 14
Rava Ladoo is ready.
Step 15

Tip
When working with jaggery, always melt and strain it first. Even the best quality jaggery has some grit that needs to be removed.
