Kerala Green Peas Coconut Milk Curry
A vegetarian delight that combines the freshness of green peas with the richness of coconut milk, creating a symphony of flavors.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 1 cup Dry Green Peas
- 2 nos Onions — sliced
- 2 nos Green chillies Slit open length wise
- 1 nos Tomato — chopped
- Curry leaves, a few
- Coriander leaves, a few
- 1/2 tsp Garam masala powder
- 1 tsp Coriander powder
- 1 tsp Meat masala powder
- 1/2 tsp Chilly powder
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1/4 tsp Mustard seeds
- 1/4 tsp Black Pepper Powder
- 1 cup Coconut milk
- Ginger A small piece - — crushed
- 4 nos Garlic cloves — crushed
- Oil
- Salt, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
Keep green peas immersed in water, preferably overnight, till soft.
Step 2
Pressure cook with enough water, turmeric powder and salt. Keep green peas with gravy aside.
Step 3
Pour oil into a pan and heat it.
Step 4
Add mustard seeds and when they start to allow to crackle, add finely chopped onions, green chillies, curry leaves, chopped coriander leaves and fry, till the onions become brown.
Step 5
Add chopped tomato and give it a good stir, till the tomato blends.
Step 6
Add crushed garlic and ginger pieces and give it a good stir.
Step 7
Add coriander powder, chilly powder, meat masala and give it a good stir, till the aroma of masala comes out.
Step 8
Add cooked green peas with gravy. Dry water content if it's too much.
Step 9
Add coconut milk and give it a good stir. Put the vessel in low flame and remove from fire before boiling starts.
Step 10
Add pepper powder and garam masala and Stir everything together thoroughly.
Step 11
Kerala Green Peas Coconut Milk Curry is ready.
Step 12
Goes well with chappathis or parathas.
Tip
The oil separating from the masala is your signal that the base is properly cooked. Do not add the main ingredient before you see those pools of oil on the surface.
