Kerala Beef Biriyani | Traditional Kerala Beef Biriyani
Kerala biryani — lighter on oil, heavier on spice, and always cooked with jeerakasala rice for that distinctive short-grain bite. The beef is marinated separately and layered with the rice for the final steam.
Ingredientsfor 5 servings
- Beef : 1 k gm
- Rice : 2 cup
- Onion : 5 nos
- Garlic : 10 cloves
- Ginger : 2 inch piece
- Tomato : 2 nos
- Coriander leaves : 3 spring
- Chilly powder : 3 tsp
- Coriander powder : 2 tsp
- Garam masala : 4 tsp
- Turmeric powder : 1 tsp
- Water : 3 ½ cup
- Green chilly : 1 no
- Lemon : 1 no
- Salt, to taste
- Ghee : 2 tsp
Preparation
Step 1
Heat a pan add ghee in it when it gets hot.
Step 2
Add onion, garlic, ginger, green chilly,tomato and give it a good stir.
Step 3
When it gets brown add salt and 2 tsp of garam masala to it, cook it, stirring well.
Step 4
Next, add water to it and give it a good stir.
Step 5
When it gets boiled add rice and lime juice to it give it a good stir and close it.
Step 6
When the rice gets half cooked stir it well.
Step 7
Rice will be cooked within 15 minutes.
Step 8
When the rice gets cooked stir it well and then set aside.

Heat a pan and fry 1 onion and nuts.
Step 10
Heat another pan add oil in it and when it gets hot add onion, garlic, ginger, tomato and give it a good stir.
Step 11
Next, add salt in it and cook it, stirring well.
Step 12
Next, add coriander powder, chilly powder, garam masala and turmeric powder stir it well for 5 minutes.
Step 13
Next, add beef in it and water then give it a good stir.
Step 14
Then close it and wait until it gets cooked.
Step 15
Add coriander leaves and give it a good stir.
Step 16
Heat another pan add ghee in it and then beef masala and then rice on it.
Step 17
Repeat the process and add fried onion and nuts to it for extra taste.
Step 18
Then give it a good stir and serve Kerala Beef Biryani hot.

The Kerala Beef Biriyani.
Tip
The coconut pieces should get slightly crispy along with the beef. They add a textural contrast that makes the dish.
