Karupara Ada
Sweet, rich, and deeply satisfying — this is the snack that shows up at every Kerala celebration, temple festival, and Onam Sadya. Made with jaggery, coconut, and patience.
Ingredientsfor 6 servings
- 2 Strip Curry leaves
- 2 piece Green chillies
- 1/4 cup Onion small
- 1 tbsp Asafoetida powder Kaayam
- 4 piece Red chillies dried
- Salt As rqrd
- 2 cup Grain rice long
- 1/2 cup Moong dal cheruparippu
- 1/2 cup Toor dal thuvaraparippu
- 1/2 cup Urad dal uzunnuparippu
- Water for grinding the above items
- Oil As rqrd
Preparation
Step 1
Soak the grains and pulses for 4 hours or more.
Step 2
Wash and grind them together with all the ingredients except oil. :-No need to ferment the batter.
Step 3
Heat a pan and pour little oil.
Step 4
Pour batter and make it to a round shape with a spatula.
Step 5
Cook both sides :-Serve with coconut chutney.
Tip
The binding point is everything — cook the mixture just until it holds shape when pressed. Overcooked, it turns hard; undercooked, it crumbles.
