Karimeen Fry | Meen Fry with Coconut Mixture
Slow-roasted in coconut oil with a generous hand of spices, this fish fry develops layers of flavour as it dries out on the pan. The patience pays off — every piece is coated and concentrated.
Ingredientsfor 3 servings
- 250 g Pearl spot Karimeen
- 3 nos Shallots (Kunjulli)
- 3 Dsp Coconut — grated
- 2 nos Dry red chillies
- 1/2 tsp Lime juice
- Turmeric powder A pinch
- Oil — for frying
- Salt, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing the And nutritious Meen Fry with Coconut Mixture, first take a pan and pour 1 tsp of oil. Fry the grated coconut and dry red chillies till golden in color.
Step 2
Grind to a smooth paste with required salt, lime juice and turmeric powder. Set aside.
Step 3
Clean the fish and make gashes on both sides.
Step 4
Fill the gashes with ground coconut paste. Set aside for sometime for marination purpose so the coconut masala is fully absorbed in the fish pieces.
Step 5
Place a pan on the stove and pour sufficient oil for frying. Heat the oil and fry the fish on both sides to a golden brown color. While frying take care that fishes are not too much fried so the flesh becomes hard. It has to be crispy fried.
Step 6
The Fish delicacy is ready and serve hot. Serve fish with onion rings.
Tip
The final handful of curry leaves should go in right at the end, off the heat — they should crackle and crisp in the residual heat.
