Kappa-Chakka Puzhukku
Straightforward Kerala cooking — good ingredients treated well, spiced with confidence, and served without pretence. The kind of food that tastes like someone's kitchen, not a restaurant.
Ingredientsfor 2 servings
- 2 cup Tapioca or Jackfruit(Chakka) Kappa
- 1 tsp Turmeric powder
- 5 nos Green chillies split
- 5 nos Garlic pods
- 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds (Jeerakam)
- 1/2 cup Coconut — grated
- Salt, to taste
- 2 sprig Curry leaves
- 2 tsp Coconut oil
Preparation
Step 1
Cook tapioca or jackfruit pieces in water along with turmeric powder & salt, until they are soft.
Step 2
Grind the coconut into a fine paste along with cumin seeds, green chillies and garlic.
Step 3
Add this paste to the cooked tapioca or jack fruit pieces and give it a good stir.
Step 4
Cook for 2 - 3 minutes, if you don`t like the taste of raw coconut - optional.
Step 5
Pour 2 tsp of coconut oil and add curry leaves and give it a good stir. Serve hot.
Tip
Taste as you go. Recipes are guidelines — your palate is the final judge. Adjust salt, sourness, and heat to what tastes right to you.
