Kallumakkaya Thenga Curry
I hope you will making curries,which was made by our mothers and grandmothers patiently.Kallumakkaya Thenga Curry is one of like that curry made with fresh kallumakkaya(mussels) and raw mango.
Ingredientsfor 6 servings
- 20 nos Mussels
- 2 large Tomato
- 5 Green chilly
- 1 Raw mango
- 1 Coconut — grated
- 6 Shallots
- 21/2 tsp Red chilly powder
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp Mustard
- 1 tsp Fenugreek seed
- 1 tsp Cumin seed
- 2 tbsp Oil
- Curry leaves, a few
- Salt, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
Gather and prep all your ingredients before you begin.
Step 2
Grind coconut with shallots,cumin seed and with little water to make a smooth paste.
Step 3
Clean the mussels and add chilly powder,turmeric powder,salt and water as needed.
Step 4
Heat the oil in a clay pot,allow to crackle mustard seed and fenugreek seed init then add chopped shallots,when it goes golden brown add tomato,green chilly,raw mango and cook for another 4-5 minutes.
Step 5
Add kallumakkaya along with masala and enough water.
Step 6
Cover the top and Let it cook for 15 minutes.
Step 7
Add coconut paste and Stir everything together thoroughly,add water if required to get the currect consistency of curry.
Step 8
Take it off the heat. when it starts boil.
Step 9
Serve it with rice or chappathi.
Tip
Taste the gravy before adding the main ingredient. It should be well-seasoned and balanced on its own — the protein or vegetable will dilute it slightly.
