Kallumakkaya Fry | Kerala Mussels Fry

Ingredientsfor 5 servings
- 1 kg Kallumakaya New Zealand Green Mussels
- 11/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 2 tbsp Chilly powder
- Salt
- 1 tsp Coconut oil
- Water Little
- Oil Enough — for frying
- 2 tbsp Coconut oil — for frying
Preparation
Step 1
Clean mussels (check the video).
Step 2
Mix turmeric powder, chilly powder, salt, coconut oil and little water. Apply to kallummakaya and keep it for 15 minutes.
Step 3
Heat the oil with coconut oil in a flat pan.
Step 4
When it is hot enough add the mussels and fry it. When one side is cooked enough flip it.
Step 5
Fry the mussels until it is little crispy.
Step 6
The Kallumakkaya Fry.
Tip
The final handful of curry leaves should go in right at the end, off the heat — they should crackle and crisp in the residual heat.
